Fight Night 1 Recap
RAVOK's first official Fight Night at PQ Event Space, Princes Quay, Hull. 640 attendees, 18 bouts, and one of the largest student events Hull has seen. Here's what happened.
The Event
Fight Night 1 was RAVOK's coming-out party. After a successful pilot at MKM Stadium in March 2025 with around 300 people, the team scaled up to PQ Event Space in Princes Quay — a striking venue in the heart of Hull city centre with a capacity of over 600.
The event sold out, with 536 tickets sold and a total attendance of 640 including fighters, coaching staff, production crew, and VIPs. This made it one of the largest student-organised events in Hull's recent history.
The card featured 18 bouts of white-collar boxing. Every fighter was a university student with no prior competitive boxing experience. They trained for eight weeks under qualified coaches before stepping into a professional 17-foot boxing ring under full fight-night conditions — walk-on music, ring announcer, spotlights, and a roaring crowd.
The Production
RAVOK has never treated Fight Night as a casual student event. The production at FN1 included a 17-foot professional boxing ring, three projectors, an LED video wall, a full AV and lighting rig with haze and atmospheric effects, and a professional DJ running the soundtrack all night.
The goal was simple: walk in and forget you are at a student event. The quality of the production, the lighting, the sound — it should feel like a professional fight card. Feedback from attendees confirmed this was achieved, with the production quality being the most-cited positive in post-event surveys.
Highlights
- Sold out — one of Hull's largest student events of 2025
- Professional production with haze, AV, and lighting rig
- 3 projectors and LED wall surrounding the 17ft boxing ring
- Movember charity fundraiser — proceeds went directly to the cause
- Ambassador network drove a significant portion of ticket sales
- Post-event survey showed 94% would attend again
- Full bar service and official afterparty following the final bout
Charity Impact
Fight Night 1 raised money for Movember, the global men's health charity focused on mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer. Every RAVOK event partners with a cause that resonates with the student community, and the Movember tie-in — perfectly timed for the November/December window — meant the event doubled as a fundraiser without feeling forced.
RAVOK's long-term target is to raise £75,000 for charity through its events. Fight Night 1 was the first major step toward that goal.
The Venue: PQ Event Space
PQ Event Space sits inside Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull city centre — an unusual but effective choice. The space offered a blank canvas that the production team transformed completely for the night. Central location meant easy access by bus, train, or on foot for the student audience.
Fight Night 2 is Coming
Saturday 23 May 2026 at Wilberforce College, Hull. New venue, new fighters, bigger production. After FN1 sold out in days, don't leave it late.
